Ottawa Law Classic
Hockey has always been a huge part of my life. I left home at 17, while still in high school, to play junior 'A' hockey in the British Columbia Hockey League. I played over 200 BCHL games for the Nanaimo Clippers. In my final season with the team I was the Captain. My time playing junior hockey taught me how to effectively manage my time and gave me an opportunity to get involved with the community by reading at elementary schools.
After four amazing years in Nanaimo I got a scholarship to go play in the NCAA with Colby College.
While my competitive hockey days are behind me sports remain my passion. I've picked up golf since graduating college and I am currently training for my first marathon.
When I'm not playing sports or doing school work I enjoy getting a nice iced coffee and going to a dog park with my fiancee, Chelsea, and dog, Whiskey.
Using the nation's sport in the nation's capital to inspire, promote and raise awareness surrounding the struggles of youth mental health.
Se servir du sport national dans la capitale nationale afin d'inspirer, promouvoir, et sensibiliser aux problèmes de santé mentale chez les jeunes.
We are thrilled to announce that the Ottawa Law Classic (OLC) will return for the fifth annual game in 2023-24! The Ottawa Law Classic is an annual charity hockey game between Common Law and Civil Law students of the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law played in an effort to raise funds for mental health research in partnership with DIFD and the Ottawa Gee Gee's Men's Hockey Team. We have successfully raised over $44,000 in past years through the generous support of our sponsors.
All proceeds raised go directly to Do It For Daron (DIFD). The annual game can be seen as a direct response by aspiring professionals to the growing reality of the youth mental health epidemic that is pervasive in our society today. It is our intention that by gathering members of our respective communities, we can stimulate dialogue required to raise awareness and negate the stigma associated with youth mental health.
